About RunTheNumbers
RunTheNumbers is a set of free calculators for the money questions that general-purpose tools get wrong: more than one job, RSUs, the mega backdoor Roth, and what your paycheck and your retirement date really look like after tax.
Who builds it
RunTheNumbers is built and run by Seattle Cloud Consulting in Washington State, for people whose pay doesn’t fit a one-line calculator.
How the numbers are checked
Every tax table, limit and rate comes from an official source, usually the IRS, the Social Security Administration or a state revenue department, and each tool’s methodology page lists them with the date they were last checked. Each November, when the IRS publishes the next year’s figures, every tool is updated and rechecked. The engines have automated tests against hand-worked examples.
The calculators are educational. They show what happens under the numbers and assumptions you choose; they don’t recommend what to buy or do.
Your numbers stay yours
The calculators run in your browser, and what you type stays there. See the Privacy Policy.
How it pays for itself
Today the site is free and funded by its builder and by readers who buy us a coffee. Ads on public pages are planned; they will never sit between you and an answer, never appear in the planner, and never use what you type.
