Everyone should be able to work out their paycheck, taxes and retirement here, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or voice control. If something on the site gets in your way, tell us and we’ll fix it.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA on every page, calculator and the planner. The site partly meets that standard today: the gaps we know about are listed below, with what we’re doing about them.

What we do

  • Every input has a visible label, and every control works with a keyboard alone. Tips beside fields open on hover, keyboard focus or tap.
  • Text meets WCAG contrast ratios, and pages reflow on narrow screens and at 400% zoom without sideways scrolling.
  • Each page has a skip link to its content, and pages respect your reduced-motion setting.
  • Every chart has a one-line summary for screen readers and a table with its numbers.
  • We check pages with automated accessibility tests and by keyboard, we’re adding regular screen reader checks, and we review the whole site again before each tax year’s update.

What still falls short

  • We haven’t yet finished a full screen reader test of signing in and account settings with each provider. Until we have, tell us if anything there stops you and we’ll help directly.

This page will change when it’s done.

Tell us about a problem

Email hello@runthenumbers.us with the page or calculator, what happened, and the browser and any assistive technology you use. We reply within five business days, and if the fix will take longer we’ll tell you when to expect it. If a calculator doesn’t work for you, we can also run the numbers with you by email in the meantime.
